On the 16th and 17th of February I was working in Birmingham with Jon Essex of Square Eye productions making a sales training video for Hewlett-Packard.
We had three cameras for the shoot, one with Jon's newest toy, his auto cue which was an absolute life saver but I'll go into that later. It was a pretty straight forward shoot as it was a training video it didn't need to be fancy so we had a basic light set up shooting mid shots and two shots of the "Actors" going through these scripted interviews.
I found out just before going for the first shot that we only had one professional actor in the seven we had on set, and none of them had got their lines until the day before the shoot. Getting your lines that late would be far from ideal for a professional actor I'm sure so it was a nightmare for the rest of them. Which is where Jon's auto cue came into play. Had we not had the auto cue Im fairly certain we would still be filming today! Good purchase Jon well done!
Aside from the script issues for our actors, the two days went along with out a hitch. I was running between two cameras as Jon was directing from video village while Steve Hart operated the auto cue. We have all worked together a few times now and I feel very comfortable working with both of them which lead to a nice relaxed working atmosphere.
