Colley's property conference

On Thursday 11th Feb I was camera operating for Mark Scriven of Moonstorm productions on a live corporate conference for Colley's property surveyors.

It was a two camera set up for the event, one on an incredibly wobbly podium at the back and the other camera just off to one side of the stage. Paul (the other camera operator) and I swapped between the two cameras through out the day, just for a bit of variety.

It has been a while since Iv done any camera operating so it was nice to get behind the camera again. Some of the speakers really kept me on my toes running all over the stage never standing still for a minute where as others very much stuck to the podium. The ones that stayed still were the trickiest ones to film when I was on the podium, because any small movement caused the camera to shake.

Theres not a huge amount I can say about this job really, It was good to work with Mark Scriven again and I enjoy doing the live events for a bit of a change from films and promos.

Glamour Dolls

Over the last few weeks I have been doing the odd days sparking on a feature film called Glamour Dolls. It was an expenses only shoot, which is why people were only asked to work a couple of days, very few members of the crew were on for the full shoot.

It was a very interesting script written, Directed and Starring John DeLuca, about two struggling actors who find them selves in some very odd situations in order further their careers and keep them off the streets.

I was fortunate enough to work with some really great crew on this film who have had a great deal of experience working on big budget productions such as Spooks, Harry Potter and Troy. The D.O.P was Graham Martyr who has been a 1st Assistant camera for many years on some of the previously mentioned titles. The gaffer I worked with most had also worked on many similar titles. They were both incredibly nice people who I learnt a great deal from. It was a real privilege to work with them both. That is not to say that the rest of the crew were pants, because it is far from the case. The whole crew were very hardworking and professional even under the several incredibly irritating circumstances that occurred during the several days I worked. Apart from these few slip-ups the shoot went very well in my opinion, although as I was not there the whole time I could not say and I’m sure the last few days would have been very interesting. I am very much looking forward to seeing the final product. I believe it will be one to remember, so keep your eyes peeled Glamour Dolls, you heard it here first!
